Best wishes for a blessed holiday season and a New Year filled with peace and happiness!

The first time I heard a Christmas song on the radio this holiday season, was on November 1 when one of my XM radio stations was taken over by some of Santa's elves!  There's something about Christmas music that brings those holiday memories flooding back.  Christmas concerts in school, going to church on Christmas Eve, visiting family, holiday dinners, visiting Santa and sharing our most precious wishes for Christmas gifts.  How quickly you can be taken back to those special moments with one song.  Do you have a favorite holiday song?  One of my favorite holiday songs, is O Holy Night.  My earliest memory of this song was during our midnight service at church as a child.  One of our choir members would sing this song every year.  She had a beautiful voice.  There was a point in that song that goes very high and as a kid, I always giggled when she'd hit that high note.  The song now, as an adult, can move me to tears.  Josh Groban's version of this song is beyond words and is a holiday favorite of mine.  I hope you make wonderful memories with your family this holiday season. Now that we all have awakened from our Thanksgiving food comas, its time to get that holiday shopping started!  Today is Black Friday!  Do you like to be out and about with the crowds of people at the stores getting the "deals of the century?"  I have a few favorite stores that I like to go to, but mostly I wait until Cyber Monday and finish up my shopping from the comfort of my own couch!  My philosophy is if I don't have to physically touch it to buy it, I won't step foot in a department store until sometime after January! If you are like me, and don't care to be with the masses for the next month, purchasing a gift certificate from one of our member inns for a loved one is a great option.  Many of our Indiana Bed and Breakfast Association members offer gift certificates and may also have some holiday packages you can take advantage of.  If you are in close proximity to one of our member inns, staying at a bed and breakfast is a great option for out of town family members this holiday season.  Couldn't we all use a little weekend retreat, close to home, but still feel far away?  Sometimes a little pampering is all we need to feel rejuvenated after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
