Second Saturday in Nappanee, IN!

If you are traveling through the northern part of our state, this weekend is Second Saturday in Nappanee!  Lots of events for kids as well as the third annual Souper Bowl taking place at Coppes Commons!  Ceramic bowls made by local Northwood High School ceramics class students will be offered for sale.  Local restaurants provide delicious all-you-can-eat soups for your sampling.  Enjoy the fellowship of  friendly locals and do a little shopping while you're here as well! All proceeds from the Souper Bowl will benefit the Family Christian Development Center.  Their mission is to see lives transformed and the life of the community enhanced by encouraging the oppressed, defending the cause of the weak, and maintaining the rights of the poor by bringing together the resources of the caring community as a demonstration of the good news of Christ. 10981536_894075410614513_4651440102377422894_n

To B or not to B & B? Advice to First-Time Guests...

If you have been thinking about staying at a bed and breakfast but aren't sure what to expect, Eileen Ogintz, a leading family travel expert and Marti Mayne, a B & B aficionado and coordinator for the Better Way to Stay campaign, give some very useful tips if you are a first timer!  You can read their full article here.

Whether you are traveling with kids or away on business, a bed and breakfast might be just what you are looking for.  B & B's provide a more intimate setting and offer plenty of time to get to know other guests as well as the innkeepers over delicious breakfasts.  Innkeepers are the best at what they do and certainly know the "inns"  and outs of their charming towns.  You are sure to come as a guest and leave as a friend!

Autumn...A Colorful Time of Year

Autumn has to be, by far, my most favorite time of year.  Football, bonfires, and cozy sweaters are just a few of the things I love most.  But I have to say this time of year shows Mother Nature's talents at its best; the beauty that is the fall colors.  It doesn't get any prettier than this! According to the Farmer's Almanac peak fall foliage dates for Northern Indiana are October 5-21, 2012 and for Southern Indiana are October 12-28.  Why not pack up the car and take a weekend excursion around our great state to visit some of Mother Nature's artwork and while you are out and about be sure to stay at one of our many bed and breakfasts.  For some ideas on where to go and what to do, take a look at the Fall Excursions page at the Indiana.gov website and enjoy all that is available to you!
