Thanksgiving Treats!

Thanksgiving for BlogThanksgiving is only 19 days away and you know what that means...Christmas is right around the corner!  Where has the year gone??  As you prepare your Thanksgiving feast, do you have any favorite Thanksgiving treats that you prepare?  Maybe you have a family recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation.  This is one of my very favorite holiday dishes in our family that started with my Grandma.  There's usually an argument on who gets the leftovers.  I'm sure it's a recipe that a lot of folks make, but we always thought Grandma made the best mashed potatoes....EVER...and we honor her memory every holiday by making them.  For my Grandma, I am thankful.   Grandma Debelak's Holiday Mashed Potatoes

  • 6 lbs of potatoes - peeled and rough chopped
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Garlic to taste
  • Butter
  • Paprika

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and rough chop potatoes.  Cook potatoes until soft and drain.  Reserve 1 cup of the potato water. Mash potatoes with the 1 cup of potato water.  Add sour cream, cream cheese and garlic. Spray a casserole dish with Pam and add the potatoes.  Push down 4 pats of butter in each corner and sprinkle top with Paprika. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes or until potatoes are hot in the center. From the Indiana Bed and Breakfast Association family to yours, we hope you have a very blessed Thanksgiving.

If you can't beat winter, join in!

Doesn't this winter seem like its never going to end??  Well, if you can't beat winter, why not join in?  Take a look at Visit Indiana and check out Pokagon State Park.  Pokagon State Park is best known for its old-fashioned toboggan run.  In addition to the toboggan run, you can also cross-country ski, sled and snowshoe!  Bundle up the family and have a great time!
