Haus Edelweiss
Our inn is in a quiet country setting two miles NE of Vincennes, off Highway 67, on 20 secluded acres with 2 ponds for fishing, boating, swimming, and sun bathing. We also have trails for walking and nature watching (birds, deer, rabbits, squirrels, etc). The house itself is over 5,000 square feet. Upstairs is a separate apartment with two bedrooms, kitchen, TV room, large enclosed summer porch, and large bath. Downstairs is one large guest bedroom with twin beds and bath. Guests may use the downstairs sunroom, dining room, living room, library, and large TV room. An enclosed hot tub is also available. We offer a very large breakfast and try to cater to the likes of guests. We are dog friendly and have several well-behaved dogs on the farm. We allow guests to pick apples and garden vegetables. We also have a list of events in Vincennes including plays, concerts, Old Settler Days, Germanfest, Civil War Days, Red Skelton Gala events, wine tours, etc. Vincennes University has several cultural events weekly. There is much to see in the oldest city in Indiana (275 year's old): the Old Cathedral, the William Henry Harrison Territorial mansion, the Bishop Simon Brute library (larger than the Library of Congress until recently), the Indiana Military Museum, the oldest newspaper office in the Northwest Territory, Jefferson Acadamy (the first college (1801) founded by Governor Harrison and led by Father Rivet as Headmaster), Ft. Knox, the George Rogers Clark Memorial in honor of his defeat of the British in 1779, the Indiana Territorial Capitol Building, the Old French Home, etc.
