The magnificent landscape of south central Indiana is the result of the glacier that slowed to a crawl millions of years ago, pushing the earth into undulating hills and valleys. Today the beauty of those forest-covered hills can take your breath away. From the majestic hills of Brown County to the banks of the mighty Ohio, the diverse landscape will amaze you. Just as diverse are the many activities the area has to offer the traveler.

Towns along the Ohio River offer a variety of activities including entertainment, dining, and gamming. In Rising Sun, Harps on Main sells, services, and celebrates this heavenly musical instrument. From a hilltop near Aurora, you can view three states or spend time at its Farmer's Fair - Indiana' oldest street festival. Madison boasts restored riverfront mansions, shops, wineries, and beautiful Clifty Falls State Park. Learn about the Swiss heritage of Vevay at its annual wine festival.

Vincennes, on the western side of the region, is the birthplace of comedian Red Skelton where his life is celebrated with an annual festival. Also there is the classic monument to George Rogers Clark. Near Batesville, you will find the Ertel Cellar Winery where you can tour the winery, sample wines, and enjoy a meal in their bistro. No visit to Greensburg is complete with out stopping at the courthouse to see the tree growing from its tower and spending time at the quaint shops that line the streets. If you're in Bloomfield, you're not far from all the excitement and activity that a big 10 university provides.

If you enjoy art and architecture, spend some time in Columbus, the "Athens on the prairie" where you can tour the town's unique architectural style on your own or be a part on an escorted tour. Nashville is sometimes referred to as the art colony of the Midwest. There you can visit many galleries; you can even peek over a craftsman's shoulder as art is created. While in Nashville, spend time in Brown County State Park where you and experience the handiwork of the glacier.

Rolling rivers, rolling hills, rolling dice... you can find them all in south central Indiana.
