Salem is home to the Salem Speedway which offers exciting racing action on its .555 mile oval track. Paoli provides the perfect place for downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter. For summer fun, spend time hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking in the Hoosier National Forest. In French Lick you'll be able to play golf, be pampered in the spa, or try your luck at the gaming tables. In West Baden Springs you will be amazed by massive domed roof that towers 5 stories above the lobby. The resort also features fine dining, championship golf, riding stables, and shopping. Hardy Lake near Austin is a great place for a picnic, to practice archery, take a hike, or go fishing. Marengo Cave has been creating family memories since 1883. History buffs will delight in a visit to Corydon - Indiana's first state capitol and the site of the only Civil War battle fought on Indiana soil. You will find Lincoln's boyhood home a short drive from Ferdinand. Take a walking tour of downtown Jasper and see the historic courthouse, vintage hardware, quaint shops, and grand churches. Visit New Albany's Main Street where you will marvel at the late 19th century mansions including the Culbertson Mansion, a three-story French Second Empire style structure. The Howard Steamboat Museum in Jeffersonville is housed in the 22 room, 3 story Howard mansion built in 1890.
